Adelaide Foley – 2025 MCSF Recipient

“Live Free means not just live each day to the fullest, but to also be kind to our fullest. In order to fully Live Free, one has to strive to be the kindest version of themselves. To put themselves out there to others in need. To show kindness even when it is deemed weak, or embarrassing. To make extra efforts to include and love others even when it’s hard. To go the extra mile, just because you can. But most importantly, Live Free is the constant reminder that our time is limited. That each day could be our last, so we need to take life in full stride. To never overlook the gift of time. To chase those dreams, spread that love, and touch lives. I don’t just think Live Free means all of this, I know it does. I know it does because Michelle was the exact embodiment of every single trait.

One of my first memories of Michelle would be about 6 years old playing at the swim club. Michelle was 5 years older than me, and had no need to be playing with little kids. But she did. She invited me to play sharks and minnows, and to this day, her kindness still sticks with me. And that speaks to who she was as a person. “But she did” is a common theme of Michelle. Michelle had no need to go out of her way to include me, but she did. Michelle had no need to continue to talk to me each time she saw me, but she did. Michelle had no need to continuously show me exceptional kindness, but she did. Michelle made a little ordinary girl feel so extraordinary and special, because that is who she was.”
