Winning this scholarship means so to much to me. I promised myself right after Mich passed that I would make her proud and work hard like she did. I tried my very best in school and became a role model for others just as she was. I hope that I continue to make her proud for the rest of my life. I miss her so much and I will carry her with me forever. I am so honored to be able to continue the legacy of one of my best friends and spread the message “live free”

“Erin and Michelle were both cheerleaders from a young age and were pretty unstoppable which made it just fun to watch them. As I followed them through the program to my middle school level, I was impressed with their tenacity and ability to bond the teams together. Michelle was the back spot for Erin’s stunts and they always pushed each other to perfect and theyn excel to the next level. Erin and I have talked extensively about Michelle and the effect that losing her has had on Erin and her life. When they were in middle school there was always a competitive edge to their friendship. Erin considers it her responsibility to always live up to what she feels was Michelle’s standards, which were very high.”

“Erin has strived for this honor and has always wanted to make Michelle proud of her. Todd and I can’t tell you how much this means to her and our family. We love you all.”
– Maureen Barker, Erin’s mother
“Thank you so so so much! This means the absolute world to me and I’m so happy I get to honor Mich. I just can’t put into words how grateful I am and I hope Mich is smiling up in heaven. I’m still crying of happiness“
