“For the past 12 Highlands High School theatre productions, a sentimental tradition has stood out as a cherished memory for me. On opening night, a bouquet of flowers is placed in the Performing Arts Center row A middle seat, serving as a heartfelt tribute to the late Michelle Chalk. Each time I have participated in this tradition I say a silent prayer for Michelle’s family and I remind myself to Live Free like Michelle. By participating in Highlands High School theater and hearing stories about Michelle I’ve learned to live freely in community with others, embracing individual differences and focusing on each person’s strengths to uplift the group.”
