Maggie Schroeder – 2021 MCSF Recipient

Maggie is the recipient of a $1000 MCSF Scholarship grant.

“I cried when I found that Maggie had been awarded a Michelle Chalk Scholarship fund scholarship. Although I did not have the privilege of meeting Michelle, I heard so much about her from Maggie. In so many ways, Maggie’s personality reminds me of her. Maggie truly will understand the honor of receiving a scholarship dedicated to one of her closest friends. Maggie, through her future pursuits in the medical field, will “live free” in truly helping others – just like Michelle has helped so many as well. Maggie will be an outstanding representative of Michelle’s legacy. I truly cannot wait to see how she changes humanity for the better. I am so incredibly proud of her.”
– Beth Brubaker, HHS Faculty

“‘I read Maggie’s essay, and I do believe everyone close to Michelle has become greater and stronger because of her. I have seen and know the impact and lasting encouragement Michelle has had on Maggie. The award last night meant more to Maggie than any other she could have received. She has learned so much from Michelle”
– Trisha Schroeder, Maggie’s mother

“Thank you so much for honoring me with the Michelle Chalk Scholarship. Even though we all wish this scholarship didn’t have to exist. I’m eternally grateful that I was able to receive it in Michelle’s memory. I think of and miss Michelle every single day, but I find comfort in knowing that she’s smiling down on you, me and the rest of her friends in the class of 2021. She truly has inspired me to live free, and I’m eager to bring her youthful spirit, positivity, and friendship along with me as I attend NKU.”
