MCSF Alumni – 2022 – Abe Hils

Where is he now?

2025 – May

Abe just finished up his third year at Northern Kentucky University. He is continuing his pursuit to be a high school Social Studies teacher in the NKY/Cincinnati area, and has gained valuable experience recently with his student practicums (internships). He was placed at both Lloyd High School and Campbell County High School this year, as he taught numerous lessons to high school students in the classroom. This past year, Abe made it on both the Dean’s List and the President’s List at NKU based on his academic performance, continuing his stretch of “No B’s or below”, a goal he set out to do at the beginning of his college career. Abe is on target to graduate in December of 2025, after he completes his Student Teaching at Beechwood, and is expected to graduate Summa Cum Laude at NKU with a double major in Social Studies Education and History.

Abe has had some great opportunities to continue leading and serving in various ways. He volunteers at numerous places, including multiple programs designed for young adult mentors to play sports and interact with children in the inner city. Abe’s fraternity, ATO, he served as the Head of Recruitment, as well as the Head of Scholarship and Grades. He found that both of these positions helped him in his overall abilities to teach and lead by helping his colleagues find motivation, determination, and a bill to not only better themselves, but also to better those around them.

Abe is returning for a fourth year as a Ball Boy for the Cincinnati Reds, and will also be doing yard-work/cutting grass for many people in the Fort Thomas area. He is looking forward to interacting with community members this summer around the area.

Abe’s advice to high schoolers that are going to be graduating soon, do not hesitate to reach out to those that came before you to learn and find your way. There are some amazing stories, opportunities and challenges posed by those who have fhound many different careers, but one similar calling- to make the world a better place by motivating others to become the best versions of themselves.

2023 – May

Abe completed his first year at Northern Kentucky University gaining new knowledge, skills, and friendships that will carry him long into the future. His involvement on campus includes joining Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. During the ATO benefit dinner they raised over $43,000 for the St. Elizabeth Breast Cancer Center.

Abe volunteered as a basketball coach for the Highlands Middle School 6th grade. In addition to imparting them with his basketball knowledge, he is able to instilled life skills that will develop these boys into great young men.

During the summer Abe will return to the Cincinnati Reds as a Ball Boy for his second year. He has always had a passion for sports, and this is one way he can continue to stay involved.
