Where is she now?
2025 – May
Alyssa just finished an incredibly challenging and rewarding semester of college, completing 2 of 4 levels of internship in a first grade classroom. She going to miss those kiddos. At her final conference she got incredible accolades from her mentor and supervisor, and got a few markings that most don’t receive until the end of level 3!
Alyssa did two small group and two whole group observations that went fantastic, along with many others throughout the semester, that the kids really enjoyed. Her other classes went really well too! She took teaching science, math 1, emergent literacy, and English as a Second Language courses. It was a LOT of work but she learned a ton!
The hard work kept her busy and cut into her time to hang out with her friends, but she still made sure to play lots of basketball, take a beach trip, and celebrate some birthdays! She even made friends with one of the local grandpas who bough a new new for them to put up and play with because all the nets had been worn down. It was sweet!
The best part of the whole semester was her dad surprising her with tickets to the NCAA women’s basketball national championship in Tampa as we watched Paige Bueckers win her final college game! She as been someone I admired since middle school and it was so full circle to get that experience! Truly a moment I will never forget!!
The Living Learning Community was the best choice she ever made! She made so many incredible connections and had someone to talk to or hang out with every day. She went to so many events such as lanyard making, movie & Chipotle night, vision boards, and others that she took more of a leadership role- such as the internship panel that was open to the entire college of education. She is excited to be on the mentorship board next year as well! At her end of year banquet she received the award for most likely to coach a sport after school.
Tutoring at the foster home and middle school continued to be great! She was able to make meaningful connections and her students made tremendous growth especially at the foster home.
Alyssa got 100% on all of her exams and then dashed home to watch her sister graduate from her high school, then back to her university for “maymester” class (16 weeks of a class crammed into 4 weeks in May) which seems like a lot, because it is, but she is really enjoying it! She is also taking two other summer classes that go through July, determined to do just as well on these classes as she did in the Spring. It is going to be a busy summer of Alyssa.
