MCSF Alumni – 2023 – AnnaLucy Surrey

Where is she now?

2025 – May

AnnaLucy finished her sophomore year at the College Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati!

She is pursuing a degree in Media Production with a minor in Communications and a certificate in Sports Media and Promotion. She has made the Dean’s List in each semester, taking 18 credit hours or more of coursework in 3 of her 4 semesters. She is on track to graduate in December of 2026, as she entered college with over 30 credit hours from AP exams.

As a Cincinnatus scholar, she has continued to volunteer with Isaiah House Ministries and other local organizations. Also, she has been able to grow in friendships, leadership, and service through her sorority, Zeta Tau Alpha. Alongside her sorority sisters, they have been able to spread awareness across UC’s campus and raise thousands over the past 2 years for their philanthropy, Breast Cancer Education and Awareness. Her chapter received Most Outstanding New Chapter and Highly Commendable Academic Achievement on a national level this past year. She held a term as the Alumnae-Collegiate Relations Chairman on Programming Council and now holds the position of Vice President of Administration on Executive Council.

She has continued to work as a barista and shift lead at Fort Thomas Coffee, but also began working for UC Athletics and ESPN my freshman year. She has had the opportunity to learn and execute various roles in and out of the control room on ESPN+ and linear productions such as camera operator, replay operator, technical director, and more. She plans to continue taking Sports Media classes and work on UC broadcasts for the rest of her college career as she has fallen in love with it. Additionally, she will complete an internship with UC’s Athletics Broadcast Production Department next semester, where she will do even more behind-the-scenes work to prepare for broadcasts and help develop their new control room.

Some highlights post high school graduation have been attending the Making Strides walk/run in Cincinnati, being on the broadcast crew of the Xavier vs. UC basketball game this past school year, participating in the Greek Variety show with my sorority, traveling to New York City with friends, and watching her younger brother graduate high school and commit to Transylvania University for golf.

This summer, she plans to summer staff again at Cathedral Domain as she did last year, but will also study abroad for 2 months in Munich, Germany! She will complete an internship with a German non-profit doing media work and take a class on International Business Management, and she couldn’t be more excited!

Her advice for recent grads would be to never be afraid to ask questions and make mistakes. Always have a commitment to being a lifelong learner. And, though it sounds cheesy, don’t take things for granted and constantly do what makes you happy. College goes by so much faster than you think it will, and you only get to be young once.

She continues to wear her “Live Free” necklace every day and is forever thankful for Michelle’s lasting legacy and the support the MCSF community has given her these past 2 years.
